You can pre-order it here. We are right proud of this rockin' acoustic record.
I almost didn't do it. 3 weeks before we recorded, I was about to call the studio to cancel the 8 days we had booked at the beginning of December. I was thinking, in my car in the Kroger Grocery parking lot, "I have no business doing this. No money to pay the musicians and studio. I don't want to "crowd fund," and burn out my friends and fans even more. F**k this." Back to the drawing board.
I called my husband to tell him of my plan to cancel, and he said, "You know what, Honey, I've been thinking about selling the Vespa to pay for your studio bill. I haven't been driving it, and we spent that $3,500 in benefit money when we left California that should've been yours, and... what's wrong?" I was bawling on the other end. "I was just gonna cancel! You don't need to... bwahhhh."
3 weeks later we were in the studio, drilling down on this playful, gritty, soulful, splanky, cranky album of tunes about hanging in there, lifers that we are.
iTunes, if you must.
Amazon, is better, and I get a better taste.
Please. REVIEW at either place. (but listen first.)
I'm so grateful to Chris Tench for helping me produce it and for playing guitars and rolling up his sleeves and powering through, and to Sergio Webb for being a boddhisatva and bodacious guitar slinger, and accordionist, and shaman. To our erstwhile engineer and singer and efficient energy engine, Brett Ryan Stewart, and to the percussion persistence of Steve Latanation. To my friends in Iowa, Jon Baumgartner for laying down the great tracks of the great Dave Moore on harmonica and button accordion. To Renee Wahl's dulcet vocal tones and incredibly sweet and professional demeanor. And last and not least to Jeff Turmes on basses and banjo, for coming from Los Angeles to be a Stone Cupid one more time and be my ally on this ride. Thanks also to Jamie Rubin for giving us a home at the Wash, and a fabulous Washburn 12-string to play. And to Parker Hawkins, a great bassist who will join us on some record release parties coming up, for the use of his extra acoustic bass.
